What file formats do you sell?
The 3D gun scans and solid CAD models download as STL files. The how-to guides are PDFs. Each STL listing shows its format, units and file size. Guide listings show the PDF format, page count and revision.
What units are the files in?
The solid CAD models are in millimeters. Most scans are in centimeters, and a few are in millimeters. Check the units on the product page and set the matching unit when you import. If a scan comes in ten times too small or too large, the import unit is wrong.
What software opens an STL file?
Most 3D programs do. For holster mold work, makers usually use CAD software such as Fusion 360 or SolidWorks. To just look at a file, free programs such as Blender, MeshLab or a 3D printer slicer will open it.
What is the difference between a 3D scan and a solid CAD model?
A 3D scan is the raw mesh captured from the gun. It is a large file, some over 300 MB. A scan needs mesh cleanup and your own mold features. Some CAD/CAM workflows also require conversion to a solid; others can machine a mesh. A Solid CAD model is an STL exported from a CAD solid model, usually about 1 to 3 MB, so you skip the scan cleanup, and you still add your own mold features. Both product tiers download as STL, not STEP or native CAD.
How much cleanup will I need to do?
With a scan, plan on real CAD work: cleaning up the mesh, then adding your mold features (some workflows also need it converted to a solid). With a Solid CAD model, an STL exported from a CAD solid, the scan cleanup is done for you, and you add the features your holster design needs, such as blocking for the sight channel, sweat guard and mounting. Either way you need CAD software, some 3D modeling skill and a way to make the mold, such as a CNC machine or 3D printer.
Do the files include the weapon light?
The light-bearing listings do. The product name shows the exact pistol and light pairing, for example a CZ P10 C with a Streamlight TLR-7. The plain listings are the pistol alone.
Can I sell holsters I make from your files?
Yes. Every scan and CAD file includes a license for personal and commercial holster making. Knife, flashlight, tray and carrier files also let you make and sell the sheaths, trays or carriers you produce; molds stay in your own shop. You may not resell, share or redistribute the files themselves. The full terms are on our Policies page.
Are these printable guns?
No. The files describe the outside shape of the gun and light for building holster molds. They are not firearms or firearm parts.
Do you take requests for guns that are not listed?
Not at the moment. If there is a gun and light pairing you need, tell us through the contact form. It helps us decide what to add next.

Which guide should I start with?
Start with The Kydex Holster Crafting Guide. It takes you from your first sheet of Kydex through forming, hardware, retention and a 39-point quality checklist. Is there a bundle?

Can I read part of a guide first?
Yes. The free sample is a 9-page PDF from The Kydex Holster Crafting Guide. It includes the full table of contents, all of chapter 1 and the complete troubleshooting table. The sample is free. Complete a $0 checkout to get the download; no payment is taken.
How long are the guides?
The Kydex Holster Crafting Guide is 53 pages, The Holster Business Blueprint is 41, Holster Photography & Marketing is 33 and The Appendix Carry Design System is 29. All four are Revision 3.0, October 2026, as print-ready US Letter PDFs.
Orders and downloads
How do downloads work?
Once your payment is approved, your download links arrive in your order email. If you checked out with an account, they are also in your account under Orders. Nothing is shipped.
Can I download a file again later?
Yes. There is no download limit and no expiry. Account holders can log in and download again from Orders. If you checked out as a guest, use the link in your order email, or contact us and we will resend it.
My download failed. What should I do?
Some scans are over 300 MB, so download on a computer with a steady connection and try again. If it still fails, contact us with your order number and we will send a working link or the file.
Do you offer refunds?
Sales are final once a file is downloaded, but if we sent the wrong file or it will not open, we replace it or refund you. See our Policies page for the details.
How do I pay?
We accept major credit and debit cards, PayPal and Venmo. Gift certificates and store credit from earlier purchases still work at checkout.
Do you offer LEO or military discounts?
Yes. Email us a photo of your valid ID and we will send you a discount code.
